Hogfish, Members of the Marine Family Labridae
Hogfish belong to the Labridae family. All these fish are classified in the
genus Bodianus. Most Hogfish reach a size of around seven inches in
captivity, and the largest member of this family reaches over 30 inches in
the wild. These fish are in the same family as Wrasse, and are closely
related to Parrotfish. Hogfish can be recognized by their elongated snout,
protruding lips, and sharp teeth. [eng]

Activity patterns of North European wrasse (Pisces, Labridae) species and precision of diver survey techniques
Variation in activity of five species of wrasse (fish of the Family Labridae) was
estimated by scuba diver observation on six 40 3 2 m transects in three sea inlets
in Ireland. The species studied were ballan, Labrus bergylta Ascanius, cuckoo,
Labrus mixtus L., corkwing, Crenilabrus melops (L.), goldsinny, Ctenolabrus
rupestris (L.), and rockcook, Centrolabrus exoletus (L.). [eng]

Wrasses
Three species of labrids are found along the coast of California (Bailey et al. 1970; Miller and Lea 1972). Only one species, the senorita, Oxyjulis californica, was
collected in this study. [eng]
