Erst im letzten Jahr den Film mit Spencer Tracy gesehen, groЯartig. Doch das erste Medium – Buch oder Film – prдgt normalerweise den Eindruck, das zweite verblasst. Nicht so mit Das siebte Kreuz von Anna Seghers. Vielleicht der beste Hinweis auf die Spannung dieser Fluchtgeschichte ist: trotzdem ich den Film noch im Visier hatte (und der Film sich ziemlich ans Buch anlehnt), bangte ich um den flьchtenden Georg Heisler. Ich kannte die Handlung und zitterte dennoch bei jeder Begebenheit mit und um den Flьchtling! [deu] |

Anna Seghers
German novelist, essayist, short story writer who is best remembered for her novels about the persecution of Jews and other groups in Nazi Germany. She gained international fame with her novels The Seventh Cross (1942) and Transit (1944), story about the fate of a group of German refugees in southern France. Seghers's major themes were social injustice and the political upheavals of modern age. Her pseudonym was taken from the Dutch painter and etcher Hercules Seghers (1589/90-1638), whose fantastic landscape graphics she admired while studying in Heidelberg. Seghers wroteher most significant books while in exile. [eng] |

German novelist, whose original name was Netty Reiling Rбdvanyi. She won fame with her first novel of social protest, The Revolt of the Fishermen, (1929, tr. 1930), but in 1933 she was forced to leave Germany. In Mexico she wrote The Seventh Cross (1939, tr. 1942), a poignant story of escape from a concentration camp. [eng] |
