Asity page - Philepittidae
The Asities are a small group of tiny specialized arboreal passerines found only in Madagascar. They have traditionally been considered one of the five families of birds found only in Madagascar (although with mesites, ground-rollers, cuckoo-roller, and vangas). Although recent evidence (see below) suggests they are actually a subfamily of the Eurylaimidae (broadbills of Africa and Asia), they are a distinctive group and have been retained as a "family" on traditional grounds.
