Order Carnivora
The Carnivora is the result of a great radiation of mammals that ate meat. But not all meat eaters are in this order; carnivorous species can certainly be found among,
for example, the marsupials, bats, primates, cetaceans, and others. It is also true that not all Carnivora are carnivorous; some, such as bears and raccoons, are
decidedly omnivorous, and at least one, the panda, is primarily vegetarian. But the Carnivora are a clearly monophyletic group that is first known from the late
Paleocene and whose primitive food habits were carnivorous. [eng]

Carnivores - Order Carnivora
The order Carnivora is made up of 250 species of mammals in 8 families. The main distinction between other mammals and carnivores
is their eating habits: carnivores are strictly meat-eaters. Although insectivores also feed on meat, they are classed separately because of
their appearance, and no carnivores eat only insects. Many carnivores do feed on plants, but this is not their staple diet. [eng]

Carnivora
Carnivora is the order of eutherian mammals that includes wolves -- like this arctic wolf -- dogs, cats, raccoons, bears, weasels, hyaenas, seals, and walruses, to
name just a few. Most carnivores are land animals, but an important and highly specialized group of carnivores, the pinnipeds or "fin-feet," have taken up life in the
oceans; pinnipeds include seals, sea lions, and walruses. A few other carnivores, such as the sea otter, are also specialized for life in the oceans. [eng]

Order: Carnivora
This order is the result of a great radiation of mammals that ate meat but not all meat eaters are in this order. Carnivores vary greatly in weight and size from less than a pound to nearly two tons. They have four to five digits on each leg or arm. All carnivores have sharp canine teeth designed for removing flesh from carcasses. [eng]
