All about Lories & Lorikeets Magnificently colorful birds. They are not seed eaters though,
requiring fresh fruits or nectar instead, which makes their droppings very runny. So I would prefer them in an aviary environment,
rather than in my house. [eng]
Australian Lorikeets: Housing The general consensus is that Lorikeets need to be housed in suspendeds (and as anyone who has visited our aviaries recently can vouch, ours currently are) rather than the full height type. [eng]
The Solitary Lory Phigys solitarius The Solitary or Collared Lory is an incredible little lory found on the larger Fijian islands; Lau Archipelago south to Lakemba and Oneata. The sexes are
alike, with the forehead, lories & crown, as well as the abdomen being a deep purple. It gets it's common name "collared" from the elongated bright
green feathers on the hind neck and mantle. [eng]
