Teporate Shores: European Green Crabs
The green crab has been discovered in multiple bays in Oregon including Tillamook, Winchester, Coos and Yaquina bays. Additionally, over two hundred green crabs have been found in Willapa Bay and Grays Harbor in Washington State. To date, no green crabs have been found in Puget Sound, however monitoring efforts are still in beginning stages. SEI's Zasha Bassett searched for green crabs in Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands, this summer and did not find any. SEI will continue to develop a plan to evaluate the impacts of the green crab in the Pacific Northwest and work to develop a response. [eng]
