Rhamphochromis `long fin yellow' (R. brevis?)
This beautiful male pursuit predator belongs to one of the less specialized — and more colorful — Rhamphochromis species, most likely R.
brevis if it is one of the described species. Photo copyright © 2001 by M. K. Oliver. However, this is the form featured on the cover of George Turner's
book as Rhamphochromis 'long fin yellow,' which Turner believes to be undescribed. [eng]

Rhamphochromis esox
One of the most specialized, elongate, cylindrical Rhamphochromis species, most closely resembling R. esox. This and its congeners are known locally
as "Mcheni" or "Ncheni" and are prized as food; they are often eaten smoked, and when so prepared are tasty, if bony. The species of Rhamphochromis
are all pursuit predators, frequently feeding on the silvery, anchovylike minnow known as Usipa (Engraulicypris sardella). Photo copyright © by M. K.
