The Rad Page
Radiolarians? These siliceous microfossils are oceanic markers. The site provides general information on their contribution to the geological study of orogenic belts and, in particular, the Canadian Cordillera. [eng]
Reticulated Geodesic Constructions
A method for constructing images of icosahedral geometric structures is described. An example Artificial Radiolarian Reticulum illustrates the process. The algorithm was devised for producing images of sculptures too complex to realize by traditional means. One image is detailed and others are available at the author's web page. [eng]

Radiolaria as tracers of ocean-climate history
Radiolaria, siliceous protozoan marine planktons, though reported since long from rocks and recent oceanic sediments, have proved as potential tools in the last three decades in understanding geological history as well as in getting better insight into the oceanographic processes. This has particularly been possible with the availability of deep-sea cores as a result of Deep Sea Drilling Project. [eng]

Radiolaria
Radiolaria are holoplanktonic protozoa and form part of the zooplankton, they are non-motile (except when flagella-bearing reproductive swarmers are produced) but contain buoyancy enhancing structures; they may be solitary or colonial. Formally they belong to the Phyllum Protista, Subphylum Sarcodina, Class Actinopoda, Subclass Radiolaria. The sister Subclass Acantharia have skeletons composed of strontium sulphate which is easily dissolved in seawater and are not preserved in the fossil record. [eng]
TMS (The Micropalaeontological Society)
The Silicofossil Group of the British Micropalaeontological Society is a multidisciplinary group with researchers in the fields of radiolarians, diatoms, sponge spicules and silicoflagellates. The group organizes frequent meetings discussing a wide range of topics concerning siliceous microfossils. [eng]

Mounting radiolaria shells
There is a long tradition in microscopy of a blending of scientific and aesthetic perspectives. Almost every microscopist has had a particular group or type of specimen to which he or she has a special partiality. For some, it is the marvel of micro-crystals under polarization; for others, it is diatoms or desmids, or foraminifera or radiolaria. It's not really necessary to create a hierarchical ranking; each of these types of specimens has its own unique charm and interest. Certainly, no one can deny that radiolaria are among the most beautiful and intricate denizens of the microworld. [eng]
